Established under the initiative of the President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the Chinggis Khaan National Museum stands as one of the nation's most significant cultural and historical construction projects.

The museum plays an important role in preserving, researching, and promoting Mongolia’s historical and cultural heritage, while also serving as a strategically significant institution that enhances Mongolia’s reputation worldwide. It acts as a cultural bridge connecting the past, present, and future, continuously promoting national pride.

The Government Resolution to establish the Chinggis Khaan National Museum was first issued on July 3, 2019. In connection with this historical decision, the newly established “History Hall of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum” was officially opened to the public on July 3, 2026, presenting the museum’s origins, development, and future vision as a continuous historical narrative.

President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh attended the opening ceremony. He noted that the Mongolian Government made the historic decision on July 3, 2019, to establish this museum a sanctuary of global nomadic culture proclaimed under the sacred and noble name of Chinggis Khaan. He emphasized that although it is a young institution with a short history since opening its doors to share its heritage with the public, the Chinggis Khaan National Museum has already achieved global renown. He also expressed gratitude to the Director of the museum, Academician S. Chuluun, and the entire museum team for their contribution to this important national project.

As a major center of enlightenment, documenting the establishment process of the museum is considered highly important for accurately preserving institutional history and promoting cultural education both in Mongolia and internationally.

During the event, Director Academician S. Chuluun stated that the Chinggis Khaan National Museum is the largest cultural project implemented in the last 30 years in the field of Mongolian history and culture. It was built through the knowledge and intellectual contributions of Mongolian scholars and the artistic craftsmanship of Mongolian builders. He emphasized that the museum’s History Hall preserves its institutional legacy and serves as a bridge toward future development and the global promotion of Mongolian culture.

The newly established hall features a wealth of significant historical displays. These include the original Mongolian Government resolution that founded the museum, alongside photographs capturing historic moments of world leaders, kings, and heads of state discovering Mongolia's 2000 year continuous statehood and nomadic tradition. Notably, the exhibition also showcases unique artifacts that illustrate the foreign relations of the 13th century Mongol Empire during the Pax Mongolica, including the first Silver Gerege ever unearthed within Mongolia.
